Website creation methods

There are many different ways to create a website and a huge range of tools to help create them. This article discusses some of the common methods their advantages and disadvantages. I will not go into detail on how to use these different methods (I may cover this in tutorials).

I will cover the following methods of building a website:

Website check-list

As part of the "So you want a website" course I've been writing, I've created a simple Website check-list. It's for anyone that is thinking of getting a website. The aim of the check list is to help you get the basic information that any web developer will need to know and to get you thinking of want you want from your new website. It covers everything from who you are and what you do to how the website should look and what it should do.

How GDPR shows the web is broken

The original purpose of the World Wide Web was to allow free sharing of ideas and information. It was set-up to allow people to research communicate and collaborate. It has been over a year since the introduction of the GDPR legislation. In the past year it has become clear that web has evolved into a tool for large organisations to track people and harvest personal information.

I have completely rebuild my main website to be a training /tutorials website. It has taken many months and is still in need of design work. I have ported all the relevant old articles and tutorials form from my previous site. Some of the articles are being re-written and will go live once they are ready.

Photography on wheels goes live

I have spent the last few months completely rebuilding the Photography on Wheels website. The aim was to move all my photographic work from this site into the Photography on Wheels website and re-instate the galleries from the old zenPhoto site.

For now I've made the site work using a theme based on the old Photography on Wheels website. I will change the theme once the designs for this website are complete.

I've just finished a long exhausting, but fun weekend taking pictures at Paddle Round the Pier 2011 in Brighton. I was taking pictures for Kamikaze Boarding and for my own website. I'm just sorting through the pictures and hope that the photos will be uploaded to my Photography on wheels website, Facebook and Flickr later in the week.
